Creating a landscape that echoes the natural environment

At McMahon’s Place we understand how important it is to enjoy the natural environment.

There is a natural human attraction to nature. It provides psychological advantages such as improved mental health, increased community involvement, and a better quality of life.

Natural Benefits

Simply being in nature can help to lower your heart rate, blood pressure, and stress levels. Research has shown that being in a green setting can ease symptoms of depression and anxiety. It also improves your concentration and memory.

In fact, the whole community benefits. A green environment makes the perfect location for recreation and exercise and encourages people’s involvement in social activities. It creates the perfect space for simple pleasures like walking the dog and spending time with friends and family. Most importantly, being connected to our surroundings builds a sense of belonging.

Researchers have highlighted how green landscaping which compliments the natural environment adds to a location’s attractiveness. Well maintained green spaces can actually boost property values which benefits both homeowners and local economies.

Environmentally, green landscaping has a positive impact on the preservation of local biodiversity. It is important to cultivate healthy, long-lasting connections between plants used for landscaping and the surrounding natural environment.

One of the most noticeable advantages of green landscaping is it they can greatly reduce urban energy consumption. Strategically planted trees and bushes provide valuable shade in summer, which can decrease the demand for air conditioning, saving energy use. When used as windbreaks, trees and bushes block wind and protect dwellings from the chilly winter winds, saving electricity during the winter.

Echoing Nature

It was with this knowledge that our developer, Resi Ventures brought Landscape Architects, Spiire, onboard to provide expert guidance to ensure that the landscaping at McMahon’s Place echoes the surrounding environment.

Spiire’s team of in-house horticulturist and arborists understand the importance of using the right plants from day one to add colour and variety to the landscape. Their selection of plants must also ensure compliance with local council requirements as well as Melbourne Water guidelines for storm water management to prevent runoff and floods.

As a result, a range of aquatic, ephemeral, and terrestrial plants along with shrubs and trees have been carefully selected for the landscaping at McMahon’s Place.

This will help us reach our goal of limiting soil erosion; creating habitats for native fauna; increasing biodiversity; and providing seasonal variations and interest for the community. Within the waterways, appropriate planting designed to improve water quality through absorption of pollutants and suspended solids will be used.

McMahon’s Place — It’s the people that make the place

At McMahon’s Place, we know how important it is that any development does not detract from the local environment but encourages it to thrive. By embracing green landscaping, we are taking better care of the local environment and the families who live here.

McMahon’s Place has been designed to create a thriving community for families choosing to create the balanced lifestyle they desire. It offers the perfect location for them to realise their dream of building a home surrounded by a truly beautiful environment.
